Air Astana receives its first A320neo
The national carrier, Air Astana, has received its first A320neo, a state-of-the-art aircraft, on November 8 in Toulouse. In 2015, «Air Astana» JSC had signed contracts for the lease purchase of 11 A320neo aircrafts from Airbus with a delivery scheduled from 2016 to 2019.
The new airplanes will be operated on domestic and international destinations, on routes to China, Turkey, India, Russia and the UAE.
Airbus A320neo (new engine option) is a single-aisle passenger aircraft with two-class layout: 16 seats in business class and 132 seats in economy class, equipped with individual entertainment systems.
“Airbus A320 has proven to be a success in service with Air Astana over the past nine years, for its passenger appeal, low operating costs, reliability and high level of safety. The A320neo Family offers significant improvements in all of these areas», said Peter Foster, President of Air Astana.
John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer – Customers of Airbus, said, “We congratulate Air Astana on their first A320neo delivery. Becoming the first operator of the world’s most advanced single-aisle aircraft in the CIS; the airline will not only benefit from the commonality with their existing A320 family fleet, but also from its unprecedented passenger comfort and fuel efficiency”.
