KEGOC completes construction of the first phase of HVL 500 kV transit «North-East-South” ahead of schedule
“KEGOC” JSC completed the construction of high voltage line 500 kV Ekibastuz - Shulbinskaya HPP (Semey) - Ust-Kamenogorsk ahead of schedule. On December 6, during the national teleconference with the regions President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev gave command to the Chairman of the Management Board of “KEGOC” JSC Bakytzhan Kazhiev to put into operation new high-voltage lines.
“KEGOC” JSC has built the new lines within the first phase of a large-scale investment project «Construction of 500 kV transit North-East-South» (eastern transit). 700 km of power lines of 500 kV and 220 kV, and substations 500 kV «Semey», 500 kV «Ust-Kamenogorsk» and 1150 kV «Ekibastuz» will ensure the transmission of electricity in eastern Kazakhstan from the northern sources.
Construction of lines was launched by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2014.
This project is very important for the development of the national economy. The new line will allow residents of East Kazakhstan region to receive electricity without depending on existing power grids, linking the region to the power grid and passing through the network of Russia.
The construction of the second phase HVL 500-220 kV towards Shulbinskaya HPP - Aktogay - Taldykorgan – Alma is carried out in accordance with the schedule.
