The Fund signed a Memorandum of Investment Cooperation in projects on data centres and artificial intelligence with the UAE Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
QazaqGaz and Eni signed a co-operation agreement to develop and implement technologies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the gas industry.
KazMunayGas and Eni S.p.A. signed a joint decision on the implementation of the project for the construction of a hybrid power plant in Zhanaozen.

The Fund signed an agreement with China’s CRRC Corporation Limited on cooperation in the transport industry.

Kazatomprom joined the Women’s Empowerment Principles programme.
KazMunayGas took part in the international business accelerator programme of the UN Global Compact SDG Ambition.
Samruk-Energy signed a co-operation agreement with China International Water&Electric Corp. on the project of the first hydro-storage power plant (HSPP) in Kazakhstan.
April
Amendments were made to the Fund’s Procurement Procedures aimed at simplifying the procurement process for domestic manufacturers.
Portfolio companies took part in the republican action Taza Kazakhstan.
KazMunayGas and Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group signed a memorandum of co-operation on the capture, use and storage of CO₂, oil and gas chemistry, exploration and development, oil and gas processing, and trade in imported and exported products.

For the first time in its history, the Fund approved the corporate Strategy for the Development of the Occupational Safety Management System for 2024–2028.
Samruk-Green Energy, a subsidiary of Samruk-Energy, for the first time launched the issue and sale of I-REC green certificates of international standard.
June
QazaqGaz held a corporate training session supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on Methane emissions in the oil and gas sector for specialists of production and technical departments and ecologists.
KazMunayGas and China Venture Capital (CVC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on hazardous waste treatment and neutralisation.
July
The Development Strategy of Samruk-Energy for 2024–2033 was approved.
An agreement on joint activities to expand the RES project up to 810 MW in Almaty and Karaganda regions in the Shelek corridor was signed between Qazaq Green Power and Powerchina.
KazMunayGas and China Venture Capital signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of processing and neutralisation of hazardous waste.
August
QazaqGaz joined the UN Global Compact.
Samruk-Energy joined Paryz National Confederation of Employers of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Fund joined the Paryz Employers Confederation.
The Fund transferred to the National Scientific Centre of Traumatology and Orthopaedics new modern equipment worth KZT 393.1 million.
KEGOC and the Asian Development Bank signed a memorandum to support Kazakhstan’s transition to renewable energy sources.
The Women’s Club of Samruk-Energy JSC was established and the first Women in Power Forum was held for women working in the Group’s companies.
October
The Fund joined the Green and Win-Win Partnership Initiative for a Sustainable Future as part of the ESG Global Leaders conference.
November
The Fund signed an agreement on the construction of a plant for the production of wind turbine components.
Samruk-Kazyna JSC participated in COP-29 (in Baku).
A number of agreements were signed on the margins of COP-29:
  • KazMunayGas and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) signed a strategic agreement on decarbonisation.
  • An agreement on joint development of an 800 MW RES project was signed between Samruk-Energy and Energy China. It is planned to build a 500 MW wind power plant in Karaganda region and a 300 MW solar power plant in Turkestan region. An Investment Agreement and Power Purchase Agreement were also signed for the project of Construction of 1 GW wind power plant with SNE jointly with MASDAR.
  • KazMunaiGaz-Aero and BioOperations signed a SAF production agreement.
KazMunayGas approved the Low Carbon Development Programme until 2060.
December
A number of portfolio companies were recognised in the ranking of PricewaterhouseCoopers Kazakhstan’s 2023 ESG disclosure rating among Kazakhstani companies:
  • Samruk-Energy – 1st place in the rating, highest rating “A+”.
  • Kazakhstan Temir Zholy took the second place in the general rating and the first place among the companies of the transport and logistics sector.
  • Kazatomprom entered the top 10 with an “A” grade, rating second among Kazakhstan’s mining and metallurgical companies. In addition, Kazatomprom won in the categories “Best Disclosure of Environmental Issues” and “Best Disclosure of Social Issues”.
KEGOC approved its climate programme for 2025–2060.
KEGOC, EBRD and DBK signed loan agreements for implementation of the project “Unification of the energy system of Western Kazakhstan with UES of Kazakhstan. Construction of power grid facilities”.
Volunteers from KazMunayGas won the international Volunteer of the Year award (Eco-Defender nomination).
KazMunayGas was recognised as a leader in rational water use according to the RAEX rating (among 144 companies in the CIS and Mongolia).
The First Women’s Forum of the Association of Women Railway Workers was held at Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.
