The anti-crisis measures adopted by Samruk-Kazyna JSC allowed to maintain the continuous activity of the Fund's portfolio companies. This was stated by Akhmetzhan Yessimov, CEO of the Fund, during a government meeting with the participation of Askar Mamin, Prime Minister of KZ.

According to Akhmetzhan Yessimov, despite the fact that the current situation makes significant adjustments to the plans and volumes of production, timely measures taken allow companies to function normally during the crisis period.

“Particular attention is paid to the preservation of jobs. The group of companies employs more than 307 thousand people. The Fund takes maximum measures to mitigate the negative impact on the group of companies. The current situation will significantly affect the financial stability of our companies. Therefore, we are doing a lot of work to optimize operating and other expenses that do not directly affect production processes”,- A. Yessimov said.

The CEO of Samruk-Kazyna JSC also announced the performance indicators of portfolio companies based on the results of the 1st quarter of 2020, which were achieved as a result of the implementation of anti-crisis measures.

Performance in the oil and gas industry is relatively stable. Over the quarter, overfulfillment of oil production by 2% of the plan or about 6 million tons was ensured.

The volume of gas transportation amounted to 28.4 billion cubic meters. m., which is higher than the same indicator last year by almost 10%.

Coal sales amounted to 12.4 million tons, which is higher than planned. Electricity transmission volumes are 5% below the plan due to a decrease in transmission volumes for the wholesale market of the Kazakhstan Republic and interstate transit of electric energy.

Acсording to Akhmetzhan Yesimov, the passenger sector of the transport and logistics industry received the greatest negative effect from the coronavirus pandemic. The cargo segment is relatively stable. Non-fulfillment of cargo turnover is 5%. The revival of transit traffic from China to Europe in March compared with February gave an increase of 30%.

The largest load during the quarantine period is the telecommunications sector. Loads on Kazakhtelecom networks increased by 30% during the quarantine period.

In addition, Akhmetzhan Yesimov recalled that in March 2020, the Fund decided to postpone the rental payments of residential and commercial real estate Samrk Kazyna Construction until June 1 of this year, without charging penalties. These benefits will affect 37 thousand of our citizens. We are talking about 2.3 billion tenge. In addition, the Fund allocated about 500 million tenge for the purchase of masks for the needs of the ministries of health, labor and social protection, as well as the Ministry of the Interior.
