Samruk-Kazyna attended 8th Annual Meeting of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF) in Auckland, New Zealand, 8-11 November 2016. The delegation was led by Mrs. Baljeet Grewal Managing Director for Strategy and Portfolio Investments.

The theme of 2016 Annual Meeting has been devoted to investing in a time of uncertainty covering challenges SWFs face in current circumstances, special attention has been given to a climate change. The Paris Agreement on Climate Change shifted attention to concrete targets and actions.

Samruk-Kazyna actively engaged into IFSWF Annual Meeting activities. Mrs. Baljeet Grewal was among panelists of the session on Purpose and Practice of SWFs in a changing world. She has made an overview of Samruk-Kazyna structure, its operations, recent developments, Transformation and Privatization programs. 

On 8th of November, 2016 Samruk-Kazyna became a member of Sub-Committee 2 on Investment and Risk Management. Subcommittee 2 seeks to provide a consultative forum that can effectively address and discuss matters relating to investment and risk management The Fund is already a member of Subcommittee 1 on SWF governance and purpose from 2015.

In addition, Samruk-Kazyna was among 12 SWFs which shared their experience on compliance with Santiago-Principles; this publication has been released at the Annual Meeting and available on the web-site of the Forum at http://www.ifswf.org/sites/default/files/IFSWF_CaseStudies_Nov2016_0.pdf. Self-assessment with Santiago Principles which was recently completed by the Fund will be placed on the web-site of the Forum as well.

In conclusion of the event Samruk-Kazyna has been officially introduced to IFSWF community as the host of IFSWF next Annual Meeting. IFSWF members were invited by Samruk-Kazyna to the 9th Annual Meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan.

As a part of visit to New Zeland, Samruk-Kazyna representatives had bilateral meetings with  Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, a host of the IFSWF meeting, New Zealand Treasury and other SWFs, and representatives of other SWFs.

The International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF) is a voluntary organisation of global sovereign wealth funds committed to working together and strengthening the community through dialogue, research and self-assessment.
