Shulba HPP with a capacity of 702 MW is located on the Irtysh River in Abay region. It is the third station in the Irtysh cascade of HPPs, while it is the largest in Kazakhstan in terms of capacity. A project to increase the capacity of the Shulba HPP to 1 050 MW is currently under implementation, which will enable to increase electricity production by 40%.
