“Green” Initiatives of Samruk-Kazyna on the Sidelines of the COP-29 Climate Conference

The management of Samruk-Kazyna took part in the COP-29 conference on climate change from November 11 to 13.

Baku brought together world leaders and organizations interested in sustainable development and transition to the green economy.

Samruk-Kazyna signed documents in the energy sector on the sidelines of the large-scale conference.

Namely, the Head of the Fund, Nurlan Zhakupov, testified at the signing of an investment agreement on a wind power plant project in Zhambyl region between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar).

Samruk-Kazyna, through its portfolio company Samruk-Energy, cooperates with its strategic partner Masdar. The parties are implementing a project on building a 1 GW wind farm with an energy storage system.

Samruk-Energy and China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd also signed a shareholders’ agreement on 500 MW WPP projects in the Karaganda region and 300 MW SES in the Turkestan region.

In addition, a binding agreement was signed in Baku on the construction of a cargo terminal in the port of Alyat.

The project was the first in the framework of the joint investment fund of Samruk-Kazyna and Azerbaijan Investment Holding.

The terminal will be one of the key links in the development of the TMTM route:

▪️ it will contribute to the growth of container trains on the China – Europe - China route through TMTM;

▪️ reduction of delivery time;

▪️ reduction of the cost of transportation and reloading time.

The document provides for the creation of a joint venture in Azerbaijan with participation of Kedentraservice JSC, Xi'an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co (Port of Xi'an, China), Baku Commercial Sea Port and the joint investment fund SK-AIH Investment Fund Ltd.
