The parties discussed issues of potential cooperation. The EBRD will continue to work closely with the Samruk-Kazyna group of companies on implementing strategic investment projects.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is involved in energy, mining, oil and gas and transport projects of portfolio companies of the Fund.

The financial institute also plays a key role in the project of connecting the electric grid of Western Kazakhstan to the Unified Energy System of the country.

In December 2024, KEGOC, the portfolio company of the Fund, and the EBRD signed a credit line agreement for the project “Interconnection of the Western energy system with the UES of Kazakhstan. Construction of electric grid facilities”. 

Recall, in October 2024, Ms. Odile Renaud-Basso, the Head of the EBRD, gave a positive assessment of the procurement procedure of Samruk-Kazyna JSC at the meeting with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kazakhstan.

KEGOC uses the procurement rules of the Group, which made it possible to conclude this agreement.
