The Cooperation Agreement and Memorandum in the Nuclear Industry: Samruk-Kazyna to Strengthen Ties with Jordan

As part of the official visit of the Head of State to Jordan, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund, Nurlan Zhakupov, met with Mr. Mothanna Gharaibeh, the Minister of Investment of Jordan.

The parties discussed promising directions for expanding cooperation between the two countries.

Nurlan Zhakupov emphasized that the investment portfolio of the Samruk-Kazyna Group includes 130 projects worth over $100 billion.

In addition, the Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna met with Mr. Mohammad Al-Shanneh, the CEO of the Jordanian Uranium Mining Company JUMCO. During the meeting, the parties discussed possible cooperation in the nuclear industry and signed a memorandum of understanding between the Fund’s portfolio company Kazatomprom and JUMCO.

The Memorandum includes:

  • Research of new technologies in uranium mining;
  • Possible joint participation in uranium processing and export.

This document marks an important step in strengthening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Jordan, Nurlan Zhakupov noted.

Furthermore, in the presence of the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Jordan, Samruk-Kazyna and the Ministry of Investment of Jordan signed an agreement on cooperation. The document is aimed at developing cooperation in key areas such as infrastructure, energy, and sustainable development.
