The Samruk-Energy portfolio company presented a performance report for 2024 and plans for the coming years at the Public Council of Samruk-Kazyna.

In 2024, the company exceeded its production plan. The total electricity generation amounted to 39.8 billion kWh.

The 2024 repair campaign was completed in full, which made it possible to successfully complete the current heating season.

The 1st power unit of Ekibastuz GRES-1 has been restored. The station’s capacity has been increased to 4,000 MW. For the first time in the last 30 years, the station has been operating in an 8-block mode.

In order to ensure energy security and the growing demand for electricity, it is planned to introduce 26 GW of new capacity in the country by 2035, where the share of Samruk-Energy is 55%.

The gas generation projects include among others, modernization of 

the Almaty energy Complex and the construction of a CCGT plant in Kyzylorda. Coal projects include the reconstruction of Ekibastuz GRES-2 and the commissioning of a thermal power plant in Kokshetau, Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk, as well as GRES-3 using pure coal technology. It is planned to build the Semeyskaya HPP, the PSPP in the Almaty region and a number of renewable energy projects implemented with international partners.
