The AIF forum held a session on the development of the “Middle Corridor” – the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
In his speech, Yelzhas Otynshiyev, Managing Director for Strategy and Asset Management in Samruk-Kazyna, noted that Kazakhstan is located at the very heart of the Middle Corridor. And our country plays an integral role on this route.
In 2024, traffic growth across the TITR amounted to 62%.
One of the main participants of this process is KTZh, a portfolio company of the Fund. KTZh is forming a terminal framework in the East-West direction and is focused on further strengthening the role of Kazakhstan in international trade.
Logistics hubs have been built abroad in Lianyungang and Xi’an. KTZh also supports domestic railway engineering with the participation of companies such as Alstom (France) and Wabtec (USA).
The AIF panel session was also attended by Marat Karabayev, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Kyriakos Kakouris, Vice President of the European Investment Bank; Andreas Matthä, CEO of Österreichische Bundesbahnen-Holding AG; Konstantin Limitovsky, Vice President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank; and Rogerio Mendonca, President of the Freight Equipment Division at Wabtec Corporation. The session was moderated by CNN correspondent Hanako Montgomery.
