Kazakhstan’s national carrier, Air Astana, and Boeing have signed a Proposal of Acceptance to renew and expand the airline’s long-haul fleet. The signing ceremony took place on November 6, 2025, in Washington, D.C., on the sidelines of the C5+1 Summit, with the participation of Nurlan Zhakupov, the Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC and Boeing’s Vice President of Sales, Paul Righi.
Under the agreement, Air Astana JSC will purchase Boeing 787-9 widebody aircraft. The Boeing 787-9 is an extended version of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, offering greater range and passenger capacity. The aircraft can accommodate up to 300 passengers.
Two units are scheduled to join the fleet next year, with another expected in 2027, and the remaining deliveries planned from 2032 onward.
This agreement forms part of Air Astana’s strategic vision to modernise its fleet and enhance international operations. The expansion of the widebody fleet will enable the airline to increase capacity on key long-haul routes and further develop its global network, connecting Kazakhstan with major business and leisure destinations across Europe, Asia, the USA and the Middle East.
