Air Astana and Airbus Announce Direct Aircraft Order

Air Astana and Airbus have announced the placement of the largest direct aircraft order in Kazakhstan’s history for up to 50 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, including 25 firm orders and 25 purchase options. The transaction has a list value of €7.145 billion.
The exchange of the signed documents took place in the presence of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
The leaders welcomed the agreement between Air Astana and Airbus as a strong example of the deepening strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the European Union in the areas of aviation, innovation, transport connectivity, and private investment.
The implementation of the project will mark an important milestone in the development of Kazakhstan’s aviation sector. It will significantly expand the country’s aircraft fleet, broaden its route network, enhance regional connectivity, and strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a key aviation and transit hub in Eurasia.
