The management of Samruk-Kazyna JSC (“the Fund”) had a meeting with the Lord Mayor of City UK Dr Andrew Parmley and British delegation, who are on a visit to Astana. The sides discussed the issues of mutually beneficial cooperation. Berik Beisengaliyev, Managing Director for Asset Optimisation, noted that the Fund’s portfolio companies are already actively working in partnership with British enterprises. In particular, UG Energy Limited and Samruk-Kazyna Invest are working to expand the Burnoe solar power plant to 100 MW in Zhambyl region. The second shareholder of Air Astana is the BAE Systems, together they are preparing the company for IPO.

Berik Beisengaliyev, Managing Director for Asset Optimisation of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, remarked:
"We are interested in cooperation. We invite you to participate in a large-scale privatisation programme. British business is well familiar with our companies. And we are seeing a great interest in privatisation from foreign investors. Besides, we are considering the possibility of holding an IPO of large companies on the London Stock Exchange. Since 2014, the Fund has carried out a tremendous work as a part of the transformation programme. Our task is to increase the value of assets. To this end, business processes are reviewed, technology optimization is carried out. We are working to strengthen the Boards of Directors in our portfolio companies. The British Code of Corporate Governance is firmly embedded in our life, our culture. In this regard, the British companies will be comfortable to cooperate with us."

Lord Mayor of City UK Dr Andrew Parmley noted at the meeting:
"The City of London has been a leading global platform for a long time, and we would like very much to be involved with your plans as much as possible. We would like to offer whatever support and advice you may need. We are interested in many projects that are happening in Kazakhstan and especially in the privatization program."
