"There are major companies on the privatization lists that generate revenue and profits. These are companies that objectively need a strategic investor capable of bringing expertise, technology and access to new markets," Dauren Tasmagambetov, Director of Privatisation and Asset Optimisation Department of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, said in an interview with Forbes.kz. The lists also include companies whose activity profile no longer meets the Fund's strategy. Under the second wave of privatisation, Kazakhstan plans to divest 877 companies, including 215 assets of Samruk-Kazyna. According to the Head of the Department, the Fund sold 56 assets worth KZT 65.5 billion. Thanks to the privatisation programme and internal optimisation programmes adopted by the Fund and its portfolio companies, the number of legal entities related to the Fund has been reduced from 596 in 2012 to 364 at the present time.
