Kazakhstan’s oil flows will be controlled directly from the capital. Today Akhmetzhan Yessimov, Chaiman of the Management Board of SWF Samruk-Kazyna JSC, launched the new Main Dispatching Division of KazTransOil JSC, which is supposed to control oil flows in the main pipeline network in a centralized way using digital technologies.

KazTransOil JSC will supervise oil acceptance and delivery, loading process in the Port of Aktau and at railway overpasses online. This step is an outcome of the SCADA Project on flow supervisory control.

The digital technologies in KazTransOil create new opportunities for controlling Kazakh oil supplies to the country’s refineries, export to China and Uzbekistan, transshipment through the ports of the Black and Baltic seas, as well as transit of Russian oil to China and Uzbekistan.

The former supervisory control structure of KazTransOil JSC represented a four-level hierarchy: local, regional and central dispatching stations, as well as the Main Dispatching Division in Astana. Today’s structure has only local stations and the main one with the two other having been consecutively optimized.

The Head of Samruk-Kazyna of Samruk-Kazyna also launched reconstructed Kenkiyak Head Oil Pumping Station (HOPS) in Aktyubinsk oblast from the Main Dispatching Division with the help of digital technologies.

Kenkiyak HOPS will allow increasing export of Kazakh oil to China, and offers the possibility of transporting Western Kazakh oil to domestic refineries.
