Today, the first Kazakhstani feeder vessel “Turkestan” was launched from the Aktau seaport to the Baku seaport with support of the Samruk-Kazyna JSC.
Akhmetzhan Yessimov, CEO of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, Yeraly Tugzhanov, Akim of the Mangystau region, Sauat Mynbayev, CEO of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC and Alik Aidarbayev, CEO of KazMunayGas JSC, have attended the event.
Feeder vessels will make weekly trips. Consolidated transit cargo from China to Europe along with Kazakhstan export cargo will be quickly transported in containers. At the same time, the active use of logistics infrastructure of Altynkol border station, Dry Port of Khorgos-Eastern Gate SEZ (Special Economic Zone) and Aktau seaport will ensure the efficiency of transit traffic through the territory of Kazakhstan.
‘At the moment, we see at first hand a truly historic event for our country - for the first time a feeder line is launched in Kazakhstan between Aktau and Baku.
The synergy of Samruk-Kazyna assets and the launch of the feeder container service in the Caspian Sea will provide the maximum multiplier effect for the development of this route and region as a whole”, - Akhmetzhan Yessimov, CEO of Samruk-Kazyna, noted.
Regular feeder traffic with careful transportation scheduling and high speed of container trains have a beneficial effect on the growth of the freight traffic by the Trans-Caspian international route and further development of cargo containerization in the Caspian region.
This route is opened under the Nurly Zhol infrastructure development program.
