Samruk-Kazyna Focuses on Cooperation with EBRD

Decarbonization of the energy sector and inclusive recruitment policies were discussed today during the meeting in Samruk-Kazyna with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development teams. Perspective potential projects for cooperation in the renewable energy and carbon neutrality were another important topic to discuss. Parties referred to the strategic nature of the bilateral partnership and confirmed willingness to continue fruitful collaboration.

Samruk-Kazyna CEO Almassadam Satkaliyev introduced Samruk-Kazyna Group Decarbonization Plan and solution will require an integrated approach to addressing the methodology of carbon footprint assessment, funding and sets of technologies, transformation in the thinking of an organization and awareness raising.

The Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” full supports national and international efforts on climate action. Currently there are a number of green future project initiated by Samruk-Kazyna's subsidiary companies

As EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso said: «Kazakhstan has achieved considerable progress in renewable energy in recent years and we, as a Bank supporting pipeline of projects in the amount of US$ 530 mln. EBRD’s strongly support initiatives towards renewable energy and keen to assist Kazakhstan in achieving the goal for renewable sources up to 15% of total power generation by 2030.”

The Parties also discussed pipeline of projects that are ongoing within Samruk-Kazyna's subsidiary companies and perspectives of further expansion of cooperation in the sectors of privatization and transformation.
