Samruk-Kazyna JSC to Have Signed Documents with Turkish Companies for $180 million

During the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Turkey, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vice President of Turkey Fuat Oktay met with the business community. During the event, Almassadam Satkaliyev, the CEO of Samruk-Kazyna JSC made a report. In his speech, he noted that 61 joint projects for $2 billion have been implemented within the framework of international cooperation between the two states. In addition, 25 projects are currently in the process of implementation and 54 more are under discussion. These days, six documents have been signed between the Fund and Turkish companies totaling $ 180 million.

“Our company Samruk-Kazyna Invest together with Turkish partners Goknur, Panelsan and Isiklar will implement projects for the production and processing of fruits and vegetables, sandwich panels and packaging materials. Tau-Ken Samruk, together with Esan and Lidya, will also develop gold and copper geological projects”, - Almassadam Satkaliyev said.

The CEO of Samruk-Kazyna also noted that the volume of cargo transportation between the two countries of the Fund portfolio company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC has doubled as compared to the last year. The growth is associated with increase in exports of petroleum products, wheat, coal, chemicals. Also, the increase in transportation was facilitated by export supplies from China and Turkmenistan to Turkey of chemicals and soda, which transit through the Republic of Kazakhstan. In passenger transportation, the Fund’s portfolio companies - Air Astana and FlyArystan, carry out direct flights to Istanbul and Antalya.

During his speech, Almassadam Satkaliyev noted that the Fund was also considering further prospects for the development of partnership relations with the Turkish side. Priority areas are: expansion of transit potential between Asia and Europe, cooperation in mining, petrochemistry, metallurgy and their processing, implementation of projects in agricultural technologies, healthcare, education and science. In addition, the priority projects include development of gas infrastructure and gas chemical industry, the corresponding agreements are planned to implement through QazaqGaz JSC and the Turkish Yildirim Holding.

Among other things, Samruk-Kazyna JSC invites Turkish companies to participate in the Fund’s privatization program.
