Today, Almassadam Satkaliyev, the CEO of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, held a meeting with a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, headed by Aida Sitdikova, the Director of the Department of Energy Resources in the Eurasia, Middle East and Africa region.

The parties discussed issues related to the green economy and decarbonization in the companies of the Fund Group, including implementation of renewable energy projects. 

“On August 25 this year, the Board of Directors approved the Low-Carbon Development Concept of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, which defines a single basis for low-carbon development as an integral component of corporate governance and systematizes the activities of the Fund Group in the field of reducing the carbon footprint in four key areas,” - the Head of the Fund said.

The areas of work include alternative energy and low-carbon technologies, resource efficiency and emission management technologies, infrastructure and regulation, as well as effective carbon footprint management.

They dwelt in more detail on the modernization project of Almaty CHP-2, namely on the current status and further work on the organization of financing. 

The EBRD has also expressed interest in participating in projects on strengthening the networks of the national operator KEGOC, including the introduction of an electricity storage system.

The Fund, in turn, announced its readiness to cooperate with the EBRD in all these areas.
