The first Kazakhstan–Oman Business Forum was held in Astana with the participation of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.

The forum brought together representatives of Oman’s leading business community and Kazakhstan’s business sector. Participants discussed prospects for expanding trade and investment cooperation, including in food security, the agro-industrial sector, transport and logistics.

“Samruk-Kazyna and Oman Investment Authority are actively developing cooperation and strengthening the investment partnership between Kazakhstan and Oman,” said Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna.

“By the end of the year, the parties plan to establish a joint investment fund with a total capital of $150 million on a parity basis. The fund will invest in priority projects in Kazakhstan and Oman. In addition, Group companies are implementing and exploring a number of joint initiatives in the oil and gas sector, renewable energy, tourism and other areas,” he said.

As part of the Kazakhstan–Oman Business Forum, Samruk-Energy JSC and O-Green LLC signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the development of renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan and international markets with the aim of advancing decarbonisation. The document establishes a framework for cooperation between the parties in developing and implementing renewable energy projects in Central Asia and the Middle East.

The business forum provided an important platform for expanding direct business contacts and developing new investment projects between Kazakhstan and Oman.
