Baron Olivier Descamps, Member of the Board of Directors, Independent Director of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, has died at the age of 68 on November 26, 2017.

He had more than 40 years of extensive senior management experience in global corporate finance and emerging markets. Olivier Descamps began his banking career in Chase Manhattan Bank in Brazil, then worked in USA and UK. In 1993, he joined the newly established European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), where he was responsible for operations in 34 countries and was a member of the Strategy and Policy Committee until 2015.

By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 1113 of December 29, 2015, Baron Olivier Descamps was elected into the Board of Directors of Samruk-Kazyna JSC as an independent director. He was a member of the Audit Committee and the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

He was distinguished by sociability, goodwill and respectful attitude towards all employees without exception. At the same time, he showed firmness, scrupulousness, and perseverance in achieving the strategic goals of the Fund.
