60 companies in Kazakhstan are to be transferred to private sector

This number includes 38 companies of «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC 
In the nearest future the list of companies to be privatized in Kazakhstan, will be supplemented by an additional 60 companies. This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev at a briefing following the governmental meeting in the Service of Central Communications.

Among these companies , 38 belong to «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC,  8 companies to «Baiterek» and «Kazargo» each owning by 4, and 14 companies under republican ownership.



According to the Vice Premier, the largest assets are to be sold to strategic investors by offering shares on the stock market. They will appear on the trading platform of the financial center "Astana" before January 1, 2018. Other companies will be sold at auction, if private investor is presented.

In companies where the state holds 100% of shares, a controlling or blocking stake is offered for sale; in companies that already have private investors, their share will be increased to 50% plus 1 share of stock – Sagintayev explained.
Bakytzhan Sagintayev noted that the primary goal of privatization is to increase the share of ownership to the level of OECD countries, or 15% of GDP by 2020.
