Construction of a Large Wind Power Plant Has Begun in the Karaganda Region

Samruk-Energy JSC has begun construction of one of Kazakhstan’s largest wind power plants, with a capacity of 500 MW, in the Karaganda Region. A commemorative capsule was laid at the foundation of the future facility by Samruk-Energy JSC Chairman of the Management Board Kairat Maksutov, Karaganda Region Akim Yermaganbet Bolekpayev, Mazhilis Deputy Yedil Zhanbyrshin, and Shao Yuebo, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Karaganda Wind Power LLP.

The project is being implemented in partnership with China Energy International Group and marks a significant milestone in the development of Kazakhstan’s green energy sector.
“The new station will provide the region with reliable energy and give further momentum to the development of Karaganda Region. Today’s ceremony symbolizes confidence in the future and the steady progress of Kazakhstan’s modern energy sector,” said Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, in his address during the teleconference.
Total investment in the project is estimated at around USD 600 million, with projected annual electricity generation of up to 1.8 billion kWh. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2029.
