HackAlem AI, the world’s largest hackathon focused on developing AI agents, is taking place in Astana.

The event brings together 2,500 developers, IT specialists, students and young entrepreneurs. Over the course of five hours, teams are developing AI solutions across 10 areas, ranging from public services, education and healthcare to fintech, mining, agriculture and the creative industries.

By the end of the hackathon, participants will have created more than 1,500 AI agents.

Speakers and experts at HackAlem AI include Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev, Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, CEO of Astana Hub Magzhan Madiyev, CEO of Silkroad Innovation Hub Aset Abdualiyev, CEO of BAITC Aidana Kaskyrbek, as well as representatives of OpenAI and international educational organisations.

Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks.

“Today, more than 70 AI projects are being implemented across the Samruk-Kazyna Group, aimed at improving efficiency, reducing risks and creating additional value. We therefore understand how important it is to move technologies from experimentation into real-world production processes. HackAlem AI gives developers an opportunity to work directly on challenges that have practical significance for the economy.”

Some of the solutions developed by HackAlem AI participants may subsequently be adapted and implemented across the Samruk-Kazyna Group and its portfolio companies. The best teams will have an opportunity to move from developing prototypes to piloting their solutions in real-world production settings.

The next stage will take place on 1 October as part of AI & Digital Bridge 2026, featuring the HackAlem AI awards ceremony and the presentation of the Guinness World Records certificate.
